There is something special about being involved in the design of a piece of furniture for your home. Seeing the process of making from the selection of timber to the final coat of finish, followed by the years of enjoyment that piece brings, is very satisfying. Commissioning a piece of furniture from MJ Cabinet Makers is straightforward.
A commissioned piece is undertaken after close consultation with the client. Ideas and designs are shared, and when confirmed we will give an estimated time for completion. Our timber selection is made locally and we therefore work mainly with Cumbrian hardwoods like Ash, Oak, Elm, Sycamore and Cherry. With every commissioned piece of furniture we provide a “history scroll”, which gives the client a record of the origin of the timber used, a date the piece was made and the designer and maker of the furniture.
